Responsibility yesterday leads to freedom today. — Matthew McConaughey
There is an allergy going around that makes it sound offensive to talk about ancient farmer wisdom. If I want to harvest my food for the winter, I have to plant my seeds today and care for them. In time, if all the pieces fit together, I can have the freedom to eat in the fall.
I know people who are now reaping the reward of irresponsibility with the lack of freedom. I’ve been one of them in my own way over my five and a half decades. The good news is every day is another chance to build my freedom for tomorrow.
Responsibility is as old as humans. The desire for a good hunt and harvest is just as old. And Yes, sometimes things got in the way of that harvest and hunt being successful. That didn’t change the responsibility part.
Yes, sometimes our circumstance or “luck” made the freedoms come a little easier than at other times. Again, that doesn’t change the ancient human wiring for me looking ahead to the harvest I seek and planting my seeds today.
Living with an eye on tomorrow isn’t an obligation, it’s an opportunity to get it right for me… and to help someone else plant a seed too.
Life is a team sport. Create freedoms for tomorrow with your team today.
